Sending my roomie off to Ecuador for a Global Citizen Year
Hello lovely readers! I promised I would upload graduation photos very soon, but before I do that, I would like to ask for your help with something very important and urgent: My LPC roomie Ploy from Thailand decided to take a very special kind of gapyear and applied both to college and to the Global Citizen Year Programe - an award-winning, non-profit social enterprise with the aim of forging a new educational pathway. If you want to find out more about it, feel free to click HERE to go directly to the official Global CItizen Year page. That being said, after summer she'll be spending her Global Citizen Year in Ecuador to work in the fields related to education, economic development and enviroment while living with an Ecuadorian family.
Here is her first leadership challenge with Global Citizen Year (and it is also where YOU come in, because we need your help): F ellow fundraising! Over the course of the summer, each participant in the program am responsible for raising $2,500 to help the Fellow Scholarship Fund. Through this short-term, and high-impact initiative, money to support next year's cohort will be raised, and the participants learn to mobilize their network network, effectively communicate their story, and marshal resources to support their cause, all of which are skills that will benefit them as entrepreneurial leaders.
For all the donations Ploy will send you postcards from Ecuador and reflection letter at the end of the program for you to see what she has learnd in a year and how the future fellows will experience their year (made possible by your donations :D). Ploy told me that she has been very lucky to have received this opportunity and we both strongly believe everybody deserves it too. But this cannot be possible without your help, so please! The funds raised go directly into the Fellow Scholarship Fund. This fund is used to provide scholarships and financial assitance to over 80% of Global Citizen Year Fellows. In this way, your donation helps make Global Citizen Year an experience that is accessible to ALL students.
If you can't make a donation at this point, please help Ploy reach hergoal by sharing this page on Facebook and Twitter! Or, even better, send an e-mail to friends you think might be interested in contributing and include a link to her or my page!
Huge thanks and lots of love,
Arzu and Ploy
